National Embroidery Month

Did you know that February is National Embroidery Month? First observed in 1992, Embroidery Month was introduced to promote commercial monogramming and embroidery. Now, more than 30 years later, it continues to provide a special opportunity to appreciate this historical art form.

Embroidery, the practice of decorating various textiles with needle and thread, has been around for centuries. Of course, in its original form, all embroidery was done by hand - but with the introduction of embroidery machines during the Industrial Revolution, it became possible to create high-quality threaded garments much more quickly, thus making embroidered textiles more affordable and widely available.

Today, in the world of promotional apparel and accessories, we often think of embroidered garments as ‘high end’.
